Shahr-e-Qods Branch of Islamic Azad University was officially established in 2001. Initially, it granted admission to 600 students in 12 fields of study in undergraduate and graduate programs.
Currently, around 22000 students are doing their graduate and postgraduate studies, master’s degree programs, and PhD programs at Shahr-e-Qods branch of Islamic Azad University. Being the largest educational setting in the western part of Tehran province, the campus has an open area of 8 hectares. A total of 16 buildings including the four faculties, administration building, bank, mosque, restaurant, are located on the campus.
Since December 2017, Malard and Safadasht branches of Islamic Azad University have started their activity as affiliates of Shahr-e-Qods branch of Islamic Azad University.
The Chancellor of the west Tehran province branch of Islamic Azad University (Shahr-e-Qods, Malard, and Safadasht) is Dr. Mehdi Fathollah.
